Mary Brunson

Mary Jean Howell Brunson, 80, of Jackson, passed away Friday, November 20, 2020 at Jackson Health Care Facility. She was born in Coffeeville on April 18, 1940 to David and Esther McCloskey Howell. She was a member of Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson. She had been a minister’s wife for most of her adult life, but she had also been employed as a bookkeeper, at a bakery and in a daycare. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with them and her many friends. Her hobbies included working with her flowers, maintaining her yard and watching birds.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Donald Howell, John Brunson, Jr. and siblings, Janice Bedwell and Joyce Wilson.

She is survived by her children, Lisa Thomason, Sonya (Greg) Colee, Mark (Kristi) Howell, Jon Howell, Ryan (Melanie) Howell; fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Forest Crest Cemetery, 5730 Bankhead Hwy, US 78, Birmingham, AL 35210 with the Rev. Brent Colee officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.
