Mary White

Mary Alice White, 76, of Grove Hill, passed away January 17, 2017 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. She was born January 16, 1941 to Wintry and Sybil White. She was a 37-year veteran of the teaching profession at various schools in Mobile and Clarke Counties. She retired from the Clarke County Board of Education. She was also a member of Ulcanush Baptist Church in Coffeeville, the Alabama Forestry Association, the Land Owner's Association, 4-H and was a partner in White Farms.


She was preceded in death by her parents and was survived by her only sister, Vivian White Paul of Grove Hill and numerous other relatives and friends.


Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Ulcanush Baptist Church with the Revs. Jesse Griffith and Holden Smith officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.


Pallbearers will be Benny C. "Bug" Tarleton, Dylan Robertson, Shayne Hennis, Shannon Hennis, McCual Hennis, Sawyer Hennis, Chad Hennis and Trey Hennis.


Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Pruitt, Bridgett Mason, Alma Chapman, Jeanette Byrd, Annie Lou Horn, Grace Presnall, Ethel Leslie and her fellow teachers.
