Mason Duelon Dunagan, 79, of Coffeeville, passed away Friday, March 5, 2021 at Mobile Infirmary. He was born in Coffeeville on February 16, 1942 to Carleen Autry Dunagan. A member of the Alabama Cattleman's Association and Farm Services, he served on the Board of Directors of both groups and was the vice president for the Farmer's Federation. He attended Coffeeville United Methodist Church and was active in church functions as well as community events.
He was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Roy Dunegan.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Julia Dunagan; sons, Stacey (Sandy) Dunagan, Scotty (Melanie) Dunagan; grandchildren, Katelyn (Clint) Brown; Courtney (Brad) Bethea, Kiley (Jarrette) Pope. step-grandson, Hunter (fiancé, Presli Tarver) Thompson; great-grandchildren, Mason Brown, step-great-grandchildren Cason Tarver and Madelynn Thompson; siblings, Conway (Mary) Dunagan, Hank Dunagan and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 8, 2021 at Coffeeville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Linda Fos officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Ulcanush Baptist Church Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Brad Bethea, Clint Brown, Jarrette Pope, Eugene Dunegan, Jamey Dunagan, and Sammy Shields.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Coffeeville United Methodist Church, the Farmer's Federation Board of Directors, Larry Bumpers and Mikel Shepherd.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the building fund at Coffeeville United Methodist Church.
