Maybon Daughtrey, 92, of Coffeeville, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021 at SAAD Hospice in Mobile. He was born in Coffeeville on October 20, 1928 to Howard Daughtrey and Gulvie White Daughtrey-West. A WWII veteran, he was veteran of the U.S. Navy and the Coffeeville Volunteer Fire Department where he was instrumental in obtaining new equipment. He owned and operated Maybon Daughtrey Tower Company and was a partner in Communication Towers of South Alabama (CTSA). His hobbies included fishing and turkey hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Arthur Lynn Daughtrey and sister, Viola Blackwell.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Hartley Daughtrey; children, Sally (Roger) Davis, Susan (Walter) Cosby, Raylena Lewis, Regenia (Terry) Turnbow, Robert Clark, David (Angie) Greer, Jimmy Pettis; sister, Berneice Preston; special friend, Rose Cowan; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with the Rev. Renea Henderson officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Ulcanush Baptist Cemetery in Coffeeville with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Walter Cosby, Chris Daughtrey, David Greer, Alan Leveritt, Steven Newton and Jim Pettis.
Members of the Coffeeville Volunteer Fire Department will be honorary pallbearers.
