Melvina Mott, 90, of Chatom, Alabama, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Melvina was born on June 8, 1934, in Bay Minette, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Logan Richerson and the late Florence Richerson.
Melvina was a loving wife to her late husband, Bernie Mott. They were married for 60 years. She was a devoted mother to her three daughters and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother to her four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Melvina is survived by her daughters, Rhonda (Willis) O'Bryant, Barbara (Donald) Pipkins, and Kathy Beasley; her sister, Etta (James) Gilley; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) McNease, Clint (Jamie) O'Bryant, Casey (Daniel) Allen, and Lauren (Morgan) Jenkins; and her great-grandchildren, Ean McNease, Lane Allen, Reenie Leigh McNease, Lexi Allen, Kendall Jenkins, Landri Allen, and Abrie O'Bryant.
Melvina is preceded in death by her husband, Bernie Mott; her parents, Logan and Florence Richerson; her brothers, Junior Richerson and Cecil Richerson; her sisters, Vena Holman, Lula Tyree, Millie Minchew, Duma Chafin, and Virginia Roberson; and one son-in-law, Timmy Beasley.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom, Alabama. Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. JJ West officiating the service. Music will be provided by Missy Lassiter.
Pallbearers will be Brian McNease, Robert Gilley, Daniel Allen, Morgan Jenkins, Ean McNease, and Lane Allen.
Graveside services will be held at Reynolds Holiness Church Cemetery with Bro. Ronnie Morris officiating.
