Merrilon Virginia Pugh May, 83, of Jackson died October 27, 2022 with members of her loving family by her side. Merrilon was born November 1, 1938 to John Merrida and Virginia Shipp Pugh in Jackson. Among her many jobs through the years, she most fondly recalled her time with Bedsole Fendley, Faulkner's and The Seasons as well as the 30+ years she spent with the Clarke County Board of Education as a school bus driver. Merrilon loved to travel, especially the trips taken with her oldest son, Ricky. Over the years they visited all 50 states as well as traveling overseas. She also enjoyed china painting and cooking for her family.
Merrilon is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sollie Lee May; and son, Ricky Warren Elmore.
She is survived by her children, Ronald Meredith Elmore, Randall Paul (Laurie) Elmore, Sandra (Mac) Henley, Lynne (Mel) Stacey and Lee May; grandchildren, Lauren (Chris) Moore, Daniel Elmore, John Lee (Taylor) Stacey, Ricki Stacey, Andy (Carrie) Ray, and Alex (Michael) Hobbs; great grandchildren, Aubrey (Wil) Vick, Chloe Moore, Gavin Moore, Ryder Eckstein, Sadie Elmore, Mila Ray and Lorelai Ray; special friend, Tina Reid as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, October 30, 2022 at 3:00 pm at River Hill Baptist Church with Bro. John Lee Stacey officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Elmore, John Lee Stacey, Dalton Reid, Chris Moore, Randy Elmore and Clay Dumas.
While flowers are welcome, donations in her memory may be made to River Hill Baptist Church.
