Michael Knapp

Michael Ray Knapp, 64, passed away on July 14, 2022. Born on December 11, 1957, in Chatom, Alabama to parents Clarence Gilbert and Willie Grey Newburn Knapp. Michael moved to Semmes, Alabama in 1960 where he attended school. He graduated from Mary G. Montgomery in 1976. He worked at Semmes garage while going to high school. He married Karen Hall in 1977 and started his career at Mobile Water (3 Mile Creek) where he later retired after 40 years of service. Michael was a member of the Citronelle Masonic Lodge #637, the past Master at Semmes lodge #878, and past Grand Sr. Deacon of the Grand Lodge of Alabama. He is currently the Grand Chaplain of the Grand Lodge of the State of Alabama. He loved serving people and the Lord, Michael was the head deacon at Tibbie Baptist Church. His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren, he never missed any family events. He enjoyed getting on his tractor and farming his land, and enjoyed teaching his skills to his grandchildren. He was a very friendly man and never meet a stranger.
Preceded in death by his parents.
Michael is survived by his wife of 44 years Karen, Marcus (Farrah) Hall, daughter Ashley (Malcolm) Thomas, son Christopher (Miranda) Knapp, grandchildren Andrew Michael Thomas, Gunter David Knapp, Maddyson Olivia Jackson, Keirstyn Leann Knapp, Madison Abbigail Thomas, Connor Gabriel Jackson, and Waylon Cole Knapp, brothers Richard Knapp, William 'Billy' Knapp, sisters Ada 'Sissy' (Bobby) Webb, Sandra (Robert) Andrews, Julia (Billy) Whatley, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Roger Carlisle, Mike Sims, Bobby Webb Jr., Wesley Knapp, Robby Hannah, and Tim Matheny. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Baxter, Bobby Pitts, Billy Williams, Johnny Howard, George Hall, David Hall, and Mark Hall.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Tibbie Baptist Church with a visitation Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 5-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services. Rev. Woody Baugh officiating and Lathan Funeral Home Directing. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Michaels name to Tibbie Baptist Church, P.O. Box 21 Tibbie, AL 36583
