Michi Ishida Jordan (91) of Tibbie, Alabama, passed away on April 8, 2023. She was born in Tokyo, Japan on August 9, 1931, as the seventh child of Eitaro and Sei Ishida. After her move to the United States in 1957, Michi struggled to establish herself as a citizen and make America her new home. Besides being a World War II survivor, she overcame obstacles that most people never endured. Coming to a new country and learning the western ways was a challenge, especially after the strained relations between the United States and Japan. She has proven many, many times her strength and endurance.
Michi was a pillar of the community, never met a stranger and everyone who knew her loved her dearly, truly a virtuous woman. She especially loved her children and all of her grandchildren. Michi also loved her community through her involvement in helping the needy in some form or fashion and loved each and every child that walked through her doors.
Preceded in death by her husband, George Elmer Jordan, her parents, and brothers and sisters.
Survived by her four children; Mary Ann (Gaylon) Dees, George L. (Carla) Jordan, Carol (Kevin) Beech, and Ataki Wilson, eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews still residing in Japan, and her childhood friend Carol Sherwood and her husband Doug, whom she cherished along with many close friends that were very dear to her.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Beech, Seth Beech, Luke Jordan, Craig Jordan, Lee Wilson, and Andrew Williamson.
