Mildred Irene Jones, affectionately known to many as "Nana," 89, of Semmes, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Providence Hospital in Mobile. She was born in Daphne on September 22, 1932. She was a loving, kind soul who loved and was loved by those who knew her. She especially enjoyed attending Mardi Gras events, watching wrestling and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Spaulding and Lillie Carston Spaulding; husband, James Martin Jones, Jr.; son, Pete Byrd and siblings, William Spaulding, Thomas Spaulding, Joseph Spaulding, Horace Spaulding and Inez Davis.
She is survived by children, Nancy Sue (Jimmy) Lundy, Eddie Paulson, Patsy Byrd, Lesa (Sean) Jimerson, Peggy Sue (Cindy) Jones, Martin Jones, Timmy (Lisa) Jones; sister, Dorothy Deihs; 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Especially close to her heart was granddaughter, Sheri Lundy and great-grandchildren, Kayla (Jesse) Pitts, Morgan (Hunter) Pitts, Aniyah Pitts, Timothy Pitts, Frankie Pitts, Riley Nunn, Rowan Nunn, Karter Holley and many other close family members.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom with Sheri Lundy and Rev. Renea Henderson officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Jones Beech Cemetery in Hobson with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Holley, Hunter Nunn, Shane Orso, Wesley Pitts, Randall Sullens and Cody Willcutt.
Honorary pallbearers will be Riley Nunn, Rowan Nunn and Timothy Pitts.
