Bodie Martin Carpenter, 94, of Millry, passed away September 8, 2016 at his residence. He was born November 6, 1921 to Bush Rod and Alice E. Carpenter. He was an employee of Ciba Geigy for 22 years and a Washington County Commissioner for nine years. A Master Mason with the Chatom Lodge for more than 60 years, he was also a member of the Clarke-Washington Co-Op Nominating Board and Spring Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Luceil Elizabeth Carpenter passed away on September 9, 2016.
He is survived by his children, Darlene (Carpenter) Curry, Wallace Rayford (Mary) Carpenter, Dale Van (Clarice) Carpenter; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren and four great, great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2016 at Spring Hill Baptist Church for Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter with the Revs. Jim Oneal, Scotty Carpenter and Kenneth Henson officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Active pallbearers will be Ray Carpenter, Todd Carpenter, David Hester, Cory Waters, Johnny Ray Curry, Kyle Gilley, Teddy Gilley, and Morgan Moore.
