Mrs. Sara Knight

Sara Puckett Knight, 87, passed away July 25, 2017. She was born September 22, 1929 to the late John Taylor & Maggie Puckett, Sr. Mrs. Knight was a resident of Grove Hill where she was an active member of the Faith Sunday School Class of Grove Hill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a retired English and Latin teacher who also tutored many students in the community through the years. Mrs. Knight was an avid reader.


Mrs. Knight is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin D. Knight, daughter, Pamela Nelson, and brother, John Taylor Puckett, Jr.


Mrs. Knight is survived by daughters: Wanda (Steve) Westbrook of Kimberly, AL, Cathy Baker of Grove Hill, Janet Woodham of Grove Hill, Rita (Don) Phillips of Grove Hill; son: Timothy Edwin (Judy) Knight of Pelham; sister: Margaret Byars of Mobile; brother: Tom Puckett, Sr. of Alabaster; five grandchildren: Nikki Westbrook Turner, Sarah Westbrook Trefethen, Brian Woodham, Heather Baker Reeves, and Drew Baker; and three great grandchildren.


Visitation will be Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Grove Hill Baptist Church. Funeral Service will be Friday, July 28th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Grove Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Tony Meinhart and Bro. Randy Boone officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Magnolia Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grove Hill Baptist Church, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, or Pilots For Christ.


Active pallbearers will be Steve Westbrook, Don Phillips, Brian Woodham, Drew Baker, Stewart Turner, Van Trefethen, and Kyle Reeves. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Faith Sunday School Class and the Shirley Wright WOM of Grove Hill Baptist Church and her beloved coffee drinking buddies.
