Nell Coleman Pace Smith, 97, of Chatom, passed away on January 12, 2025, at the Washington County Nursing Home. She was born on June 16, 1927, to parents Leon Earl and Sally Dessie Walker Coleman. She was a member of Jackson First Baptist Church. She worked at Vanity Fair as a seamstress and also as a nurse's aide. She enjoyed gardening, feeding and watching the birds in her yard, traveling, and visiting friends.
Preceded in death by her husband Jenkins A. Smith, parents, son-in-law Gary Sinclair. Siblings Lillian Turner, Eunice Coleman, Jim Coleman, and Reuben Coleman.
Survived by her children Ruby Nell (Glenn) Cave, John Elwin Pace Jr., Frances Christine Sinclair, Pamela (Thomas) Few, Matt Colman (Kay) Pace, Sally Lynn (Dale) Bryan, Jessie Russell (Stacie) Pace. 14 Grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, and many other extended family members and friends.

Funeral Services will be at 12 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with a visitation starting at 11:30 a.m. Dr. Brian Jemison officiating. Burial will follow immediately after services at Hopewell Baptist Cemetery in Walker Springs.
