Paula Reid

Paula Jones Reid went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2024. Paula is survived by her daughter Shawna Reid Weekley (Chris) and her grandchildren MaiLin, AnnaLi, and Adrian Weekley. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Stevenson Jones, mother, Maude Foscue Jones, and sister Merilyn Jones.

Paula was born on October 20, 1940. After graduating from Clarke County High School, she pursued a degree in education with a concentration in math at The University of Montevallo. She began teaching right away and taught at several schools in Clarke County. However, she found her home at Grove Hill Academy (now Clarke Preparatory School) in 1978 where she taught advanced math for 40 years. She patiently poured into her students daily, teaching them lessons not just about math but about life. She served many roles at Clark Prep. In addition to teaching advanced math, she served as assistant headmaster, math team coach, Beta Club sponsor and countless other positions. Later on in her career, she furthered her education by obtaining her Master's Degree at The University of West Alabama. In 2009, she was inducted into the AISA Hall of Fame. On October 6, 2023, Clarke Prep honored her by dedicating The Paula Reid Math Laboratory.

Paula was a devoted mother and grandmother. One of her greatest joys were her grandchildren. She loved spending time with them and sharing life experiences, especially trips to the beach. Most importantly, Paula loved the Lord with all of her heart, soul, mind, and strength. She shared that with all who knew her. Paula served the Lord many years in her local church as the pianist.

A visitation is scheduled for 1pm on Saturday, December 14, 2024, with a service following at 2pm at The Cornerstone Baptist Church in Grove Hill, Alabama. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation in her memory to Samaritan's Purse, samaritanspurse.org
