Peggy Horton

Peggy C. Horton, 89, of Grove Hill, passed away Friday, November 23, 2019 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. She was born October 22, 1930 to Alonzo and Marie Miller Chastain in Jackson. An active member of Grove Hill Baptist Church, she served in the church nursery for 42 years and 16 years prior to that at The First Baptist Church of Jackson. She enjoyed cooking and reading and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Coma Horton and brother, Ray Chastain.

She is survived by her sons, Gary (Cheryl) Horton, Keith Horton; grandchildren, Rachel (Jay) O’Brien, Brett (Amanda) Horton, Kelsey (Gary) Masih, Dayton (Chris) Brown, Jacob Horton, Logan Horton (Kelsey) and great-grandchildren, Blane Horton, Briley Horton, Mirabella O’Brien, Declan O’Brien, Linley Brown and Rajdeep Masih..

A graveside service will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Magnolia Lawn Cemetery in Grove Hill with Dr. Randy Boone officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 11-12 at Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill.

Pallbearers will be Brett Horton, Jacob Horton, Logan Horton, David Chastain, John Johnson and Kenny Finch.

Honorary pallbearers will be Grove Hill Baptist Church nursery workers.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Grove Hill Memorial Hospital.
