Ralph Roney

Ralph O'Neal Roney, Sr., 86, passed away on February 8, 2025. Ralph was born in Wagar on December 13, 1938, to parents George Edward Roney and Thelma Parnell Roney. Ralph retired from CIBA after working for over 39 years. Known through out the community as "The Boat Man", Ralph had worked on boat motors for over 55 years. He was an avid fisherman and deer hunter. Back in the day he played softball with the fellas and was a founder of the Wagarville Softball Association. Ralph was a true pillar of the community and his legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone that knew him.

Ralph is survived by his children, O'Neal (Debbie) Roney, Lynn (Tony) Powell, Wayne (Jennifer) Roney, and Erica (Michael) Smith; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Ralph is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Harriet C. Roney; his parents; daughters, Beverly Jean Collins and Elaine Roney Guy; siblings, Gladys Pearl Lankford, Betty Anderson, George "Bud" Roney, and Houston "HooBoo" Roney.

Services will be Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Lathan Funeral Home, Jackson. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral begins at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Steve Foster, officiating. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery, Wagarville.

Active pallbearers will be Blake Powell, Casey Roney, Perry Lankford, Bo Roney, Destry Powell, John Tarver, and Matt Sullivan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Runt Keith, Joe Goldman, Tommy Johnson, Alan Keith, Randy Gibson, Chris Lankford, Andy Tarver, and Brandon Guy.
