Ray B. Harrell, 83, of Grove Hill, passed away August 16, 2017 at his residence. He was born July 31, 1934 to Bernard and Emodine Harrell. He had been a proud member of the 116th Signal Co. of the Alabama National Guard, retiring with the rank of Staff Sgt. and had served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was also a retired Alabama State Trooper and a member of Grove Hill United Methodist Church. A founding member of the Kingdom Builders, he was also a graduate of Jackson High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James (Earline) Harrell.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Wilson Harrell; children, Mark (Melissa) Harrell, Leslye (Gary) Stalvey, Richard (Linda "Suki") Harrell, Samantha (Tyler) Miller; grandchildren, Anthony Harrell, Megan Harrell, John Ross Harrell, Ava Stalvey, Meredith Stalvey, Destin (Antonio) Gonzalez; Harley Harrell, Matthew Harrell, Grady Dunagan, Emma Grace Miller, James Miller; six great-grandchildren and brother, Charles "Chuck" (Jeanie) Harrell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2017 at Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill with the Rev. Mike Pearson officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Magnolia Lawn Cemetery in Grove Hill with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Bryant Bolen, III, Jim Dunagan, Eddie Foster, Marty Gardner, Randy Harrell, Perry Pickard, Fred Reeves and Waylon Rowell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robbie Bolen, Norman Burton, Ronal Dunagan, John Gaddis and Coleman Harrell, Jr.
