Ray Lankford

Ray C. Lankford, Jr. 74, of Chatom, passed away December 26, 2019 at his residence. He was born January 23, 1945 to Ray Lankford, Sr. and Gladys Roney Lankford in Chatom. A devoted member of Walker Springs Road Baptist Church in Jackson, he also enjoyed collecting guns, building racecars, fishing, the University of Alabama football and spending time with his large, extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janie Elms Lankford; son, Raymond Gregory Lankford; great-grandson, Brodie Lankford and siblings, Mary Susan Keith, George Mickey Lankford, Leigh Lankford, Jerry Lankford and Randy Lankford.

He is survived by his granddaughter, Mallory (Jake) Casteel; great-grandchildren, Mason Casteel, Ryleigh Casteel and siblings, Timmy (Katrina) Lankford, Phil (Debbie) Lankford, Perry (Trish) Lankford, Derek (Deanna) Lankford, Mark Lankford, Chris Lankford, Helen (Robert) Tarver, Cathy (Randy) Harrell, Polly (Timmy) Bozeman, Vicky (Tony) Cooper and Katie Pledger.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom with the Revs. David Webb and Polly Bozeman officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Richardson Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers will be Jake Casteel, Charles Allen Hicks, Mikey Strickland, Gaven Knapp, Luke Lankford, Raymond Lankford, Matt Lankford and Don Hudson.

Sol Stewart will be an honorary pallbearer.
