Richard Alan Johnson, Jr., 79, of Jackson, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022, at his residence. He was born in St. Louis, MO on Thursday, April 8, 1943, to Richard Johnson Sr. and Jenny Fowler Johnson, both of whom preceded him in death. He had been employed as a security guard as the Jefferson County Courthouse in Birmingham prior to retirement. He was a member of the Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge, LA and was a bass singer in the church choir as a younger man. He enjoyed gardening, painting flowers and spending time with his many friends. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting around a campfire with his brother-in-law, Don Cocker.
He is survived by his children, Joan Horine, Terri Fitzpatrick, Richard Johnson, III, Max Johnson; sister, Nancy (Don) Cocker; lifelong friend, Marion Keith; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends, especially the employees of Hampton Inn in Jackson where he spent a great deal of his time.
A memorial service will be conducted at his residence at a time yet to be determined.
