Richard P. McMullen Sr., 83, of Jackson, passed away on June 1, 2022, peacefully at his home. Born January 2, 1939, to parents P.R. and Eula Milstead McMullen in Jackson, Alabama. Mr. McMullen worked at Ciba Geigy as a Maintenance Forman, he was a volunteer with the Jackson Fire Department for 26 years and retired as Chief Warrant Officer from the Alabama National Guard after 39 years of service and Veteran of Desert Storm. He was a man of God and a faithful member of Jackson First Baptist Church. Mr. McMullen loved his family and cherished the times they spent together.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ollie Henson.
He is survived by his wife, Sophia Stanley McMullen; son, Richard P. (Sandra) McMullen Jr., and daughter, Lyne (Steve) Warnock; grandchildren, Jami Garrick, Meg (Rodney) Jordan, James (Hannah) Osborne, Matthew (Becky) Warnock, Jennifer (Kyle) Gilligan, and Michael Warnock; great-grandchildren, Cooper Henson, Callie Jordan, Callahan Gilligan, and Delilah Osborne. Pallbearers will be Donald Green, Jason Thomas, Troy Spence, Joe Milstead, Gerold Syphrit, and Donald Henson.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday June 3, 2022, at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with a visitation starting at 10 a.m. Dr. Ben Stubblefield officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to
