Richard “Dick” Dwight Postma, 77, of Grove Hill, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. He was born in Tracy, MN on January 20, 1943 to Lawrence and Madeline Ykema Postma, both of whom preceded him in death.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was an armorer aboard the USS Independence during the Bay of Pigs incident during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Richard devoted his life to building his business, Town & Country Autos. He was also an avid golfer, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and attended Tompkins Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, June Johnson Postma; children, Kimberley (Robert) Cuenca, Jared (Yvonne) Postma, Ali (Chance) Yancey, Tess (Jay) Howard, Robin (Victor) Moss, Riley (Brittany) Anderson; grandchildren, Dylan Postma, Matthew Meitzler, Brandon Postma, Jay Roberts, Maddi Roberts, Dutch Yancey, Saylor Anderson, Emmy Blue Yancey, Poppy Yancey, James Howard; siblings, Bonita (Donnie) Meyers, Norma (Bruce) Whaley, Dennis (Carla) Postma, Lauren (Liz) Postma and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2020 at Tompkins Baptist Church in Grove Hill with Dr. Johnny Kendrick officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson and then again, an hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Magnolia Lawn Cemetery in Grove Hill with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Robert Cuenca, Jay Howard, Matthew Meitzler, Victor Moss, Gary Nicholson, Brandon Postma, Dylan Postma and Regan Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be Virgil Chapman, Dan Chatwood, Dane Daugherty, Jay Duke, Ben Farmer, Billy Griffin, Sam Hughston, Bill Walker and the employees of Town & Country Autos.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
