Robert Dean

Robert Carlan Dean, 84, of Jackson, passed away on April 21, 2025, at his home with his family by his side. Robert was born on July 9, 1940, in Aliceville, Alabama to parents LeeRoy and Ruth Ezell Dean. He graduated from the University of Alabama following his service in the United States Marine Corps. He then moved to Colorado to pursue a career in computer science. After building his own home in Conifer, Colorado, Robert was transferred by ATT Paradyne back to his home state of Alabama.

Robert was a man of many talents, he was a master carpenter, a champion archer, a champion practical pistol shooter, photographer, motorcyclist, hunter, fisherman, wood worker (lathe, chip-carving, whittling, scroll saw) and spent many months south of the border practicing Spanish by immersion. Robert's greatest love, however, was golf.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents; LeeRoy and Ruth Dean, brother; Roy Manley Dean, sister; Myrtle Ruth Winborne.

Robert is survived by his wife, Lauretta Dean; his daughters, Layle Boatwright and Shannon Dean; grandchildren, Ashlynn Sierra, Patrick House, Griffin and Raegan Boatwright; two great-grandchildren Isabelle and Jace Sierra; his sisters, Annie Laura Stanfill and Inez Dean Burroughs; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Jackson Links Golf Course Clubhouse, 575 Vanity Park Dr., Jackson, Alabama with Dr. Johnny Kendrick officiating. Online condolences may be shared at www.lathanfuneralhome.com
