Robert Michael Hyde, 63, of Frankville, passed away January 10, 2018 at his residence. He was born May 6, 1954 to Billy Franklin Hyde, Sr. and Jean Wiseman Hyde. During his long tenure as a law enforcement officer in Clarke County, he served on the Jackson Police Department, the Clarke County Sheriff's Department and the First Judicial Drug Task Force. He also worked part time at Lathan Funeral Home and as an EMT with an ambulance service. His favorite hobbies included hunting and watching Alabama football, but his most treasured moments were those he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carol Hyde Parker.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Carol Hyde of Frankville; children, Christi (Bryan) Few of Jackson, Kevin Michael Hyde of Mobile; grandchildren, Candice (Max) Harrell, Walt Few, Jessica Hyde, Ayden Hyde and brothers, Billy Franklin (Ann) Hyde of Mobile and John Edward (Gail) Hyde of Jackson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with the Revs. Joe May and Billy Harris officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Mike Ready, Richard Harvey, Larry Hyde, James Hyde, Will MeGehee, Elijah Berry and Steve Vick.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Jackson Police Department, the Clarke County Sheriff's office and the First Judicial Drug Task Force.
