Robert Eugene “Bobby” Reid, 86, of Grove Hill, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Campbell on February 5, 1934 to Robert A. Reid and Anna Wimberly Reid. Bobby graduated from Thomasville High School in 1952 and was an alumnus of Auburn University class of 1957 where he was a proud member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.
He retired at Vanderbilt University and Medical Center as the Warehouse Supervisor. He served in the US Army Tank Battalion Division and always enjoyed sharing stories of being stationed in Germany with Elvis Presley.
Having lived and worked in several states due to his career, he developed a love of traveling the country in his RV and also enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 58 years, Julia Britt Reid; grandson, Austin Chase Rehorn and sister, Louise Corgill.
He is survived by his children, Lee Ann (Billy) Anderson, Tim (Charissa) Reid; grandchildren, Colton (Jordyn Curry) Rehorn, Amanda (Joe) Henderson, Anna Reid, Olivia Reid, Kate Reid; great-grandchildren, Harper Rehorn, Gideon Henderson, Campbell Rehorn; beloved brother, Johnny (Julia Ann Deas) Reid; several much loved nieces, nephew, and other treasured relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at the family cemetery in Campbell at a date and time yet to be determined. Rev. Cleon Kyles will officiate at the service.
