Robert Henry Tarver, 72, of Wagarville, passed away Monday, August 31, 2020 at his residence. He was born December 14, 1947 to Otis Edward Tarver, Sr. and Tennie Presnall Tarver, both of whom preceded him in death. A lifelong member of Victory Grove Church, he had been employed for 42 ½ years at Vanity Fair Mills. He enjoyed fishing and sitting on his porch greeting friends and neighbors, and he never “met a stranger.” He was an avid fan of bluegrass and gospel music. Known as a man who loved life, he will forever be remembered for his huge smile and generous heart.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Helen Lankford Tarver; children, Andy Tarver, John Tarver, Jennifer Tarver (George) Skipper; grandchildren, George W. Skipper, Lawson Skipper, Meagan Skipper Hoven, Brittany Tarver, Jonathan Tarver; brother, Otis (Nancy) Tarver, Jr, five great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 am. on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Clearwater Assembly of God Cemetery in Wagarville with the Rev. Glenn Sullivan officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing. The family will gather at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson at 9 a.m. for a funeral processional to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Timmy Wayne Lankford, Daryl Powell, Bo Roney, Jonathan Tarver, Keith Tarver and Tony Tarver.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Long, Roger Roberts, Ralph Roney, Doug Sullivan, Jackie Sullivan, James Ray Sullivan and Jason Sullivan.
Flowers are accepted and donations in his memory may be made to Victory Grove Church in Wagarville.
