Robert Thompson

Robert Leslie Thompson, 68, of Chatom, passed away July 12, 2016 at his residence. He was born July 22, 1947 to Leslie and Bessie Thompson. He had been employed as a timber and game manager with Bassett Creek Timber and Game Management. A member of Pine Level Baptist Church, he was a loving and devoted family man.


He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mickey Tryon.


He is survived by his wife, Sharon Thompson; children, Shane Thompson, Scotty Thompson, Leita (Bobby) Powell, Dedra (Kyle) Jackson, Michael (Angie) Simon; siblings, Carol Sue (L.V.) Goldman, Charles (Janet) Thompson and eight grandchildren, Adam Brown, Jackson Brown, Michaela Simon, Elijah Simon, Gracie Simon, Kendall Thompson, Grayson Powell and Jacob Powell.


Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on July 13, 2016 at Pine Level Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Butler officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the service at the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.


Pallbearers will be Gary Goldman, Stanley Atchison, Ken Thompson, J.J. Thompson, Grady Beech, Kenny Atchison, Stephen McNeil and Wayne Goldman.


Honorary pallbearers will be members of the 1965 graduating class of Washington County High School.
