Robert Arthur "Bobby" Smith, Jr., 62, of Grove Hill, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022, at his residence surrounded by family. He was born in Valparaiso, Indiana on July 21, 1959, to Robert Arthur "Bob" Smith, Sr. and Sarah Lou Jones Smith, both of whom preceded him in death. He had been employed at Clarke Mobile Gas until retirement and then worked for The Clarke County Democrat in Grove Hill. He attended Grove Hill Baptist Church and was a past member of the Jackson Rescue Squad. He and his wife enjoyed frequent camping trips and spending time with family and friends. He was also an avid fan of NASCAR and enjoyed bowling, softball and attending his grandsons' sporting events. He was a fan of The University of Alabama football program and was an antique car enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Hicks Smith; stepson, John Steven Kelley; grandchildren, Drayton Kelley, Isaac Kelley; siblings, Steve (Kelly) Smith, Belinda (Phillip) Holley, Tommy (Vicki) Smith, Kenny Smith and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill with the Rev. Russell Wright and Belinda Holley officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Lathan Funeral Home and again an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Asbury Baptist Cemetery in Grove Hill with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Dungan, Kevin Holley, Bobby Jordan, Kenny Smith, Steve Smith and Tommy Smith.
