Ruby Lee Smith, 90, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020 at her residence. She was born in Sims Chapel on April 28, 1930 to Bates Johnston and Gladys Odom Johnston. A member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson, she enjoyed playing golf and bridge with her friends. She was a homemaker who devoted her time to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Smith; grandson, Jason T. Green and sister, Glendyne Parnell.
She is survived by her children, Perry B. Smith, Kay S. Pierce, Gayle S. (Trotter) Schaub; grandchildren, Nicole Lea Pierce, Neely Hargrove, Amy Courtney Green, Shannon S. Brown, Kristye S. (Jerry) Morton, Heather S. (Matt) Davis; great-grandchildren, Pierce Hargrove, Laney R. Green, Haydin Morton, Hadley Morton, Cameron Brown, Hylan Morton, Daisy K. Davis; sister, Audrey Henson and numerous other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson with Dr. Ben Stubblefield officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 10-10:45 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the building fund of The First Baptist Church of Jackson.
