Sammy Loper

Sammy Joe Loper, 72, of Fruitdale, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022, at his residence. He was born on Monday, May 23, 1949, in Fruitdale. A self-employed auto mechanic, he enjoyed restoring automobiles, drag racing and NASCAR. He was also an avid fisherman, casino gambling, playing cards and spending time with his beloved family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl V. Loper, Dorothy Louise Brown Loper; wife, Martha Lyndsey Loper; daughter, Jessica Necole Loper Easterly and brother, Kenneth Wayne Loper.
He is survived by his siblings, Ruby Carpenter, Mamie C. (Arnold) Pope, Cathy Harvison, Penny R. (Matthew) Richardson; grandchildren, Reagan Easterly, Alex Easterly and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022, at Grace Williams Cemetery in Fruitdale with the Revs. Maurice Price and Joey Williams officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Phyllis Carney, Stacy Carney, Tabitha Carney, Lisa Goldman, Christy Loper, Alexis McLeod, Lydia Richardson and Mattlyn Richardson.
Krystal Carney will be an honorary pallbearer.
