Samuel Elder

Samuel H. Elder, 76 of Mobile, died Friday, March 3, 2023. Samuel was born November 24, 1946 to Eugene and Darrah Elder. He was a loyal employee as a communications technician with AT&T for 36 years who enjoyed fishing and woodworking in his spare time. Samuel was a devoted husband, a loving father and an adoring grandfather. His favorite pastime was watching his children and later his grandchildren participating in ball games and other activities.
Samuel is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Elder.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 Years, Faye McIlwain Elder; son, Mark J. Elder (Raina); daughter, Brooke Elder Engle (Shawn); brother, Leslie E. Elder (Bonnie); and grandchildren, Conner, Clayton, Chett, Theron, Kaleb, Madison, Jase and Jaxon.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Laton Hill Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie McCarson officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in Samuel's honor to the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute, www.usahealthsystem.com/give.
