Sharon Delaughter Bordelon, 72, of Jackson died Sunday, April 7, 2024 at UAB Hospital. Sharon was born September 1, 1951 in Louisiana to Buford and Edna Delaughter. She was a member of Stave Creek Baptist Church where she taught Children's Sunday School Class for many years and was loved by many. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for her family; they will greatly miss her delicious creations especially her Sunday roasts, chocolate icing & red beans and rice. Sharon originally watched LSU Football to spend time with her beloved husband but eventually became a great fan of their team. She was a sweet, and gentle woman who spoke words of love and kindness; always uplifting those around her. Sharon was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife and mother. She helped raise her sister, Emmagene, and was a devoted caregiver to her mother in her later years. She had a knack for anticipating the needs of others. Sharon spent much of her time playing with her dog (she had many through the years) and playing games on her iPad but becoming a grandmother, or Nana, was a joy that brightened her days in ways she never imagined.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 53 ½ , John B. Bordelon; children, Christie Taylor (Jason) and Aprille Rhodes; grandchildren, Jacob Taylor, Laura Rose Taylor, Payton Rhodes and Taylor Rhodes; siblings, Calvin Delaughter (Shirley), Michael Delaughter (Brenda) and Emmagene Day (Jim); sister-in-love, Patricia Bordelon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; children, an infant son, Jason Bordelon and Travis Bordelon; and her parents-in-law; Burton and Ruby Bordelon.
Services will be held Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Stave Creek Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Wayne Smith and Bro. Mike Ballard officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
