Shawn Seay

Shawn K. Seay, 62, of Chatom, died in Mobile after a brief illness on Monday, June 21, 2021. Shawn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He retired from teaching after 31 years in 2011. He taught math, history and special education as well as coached several sports. He was a bluegrass musician and loved to play his guitar. He was always willing to go and pick and grin at a moment's notice, especially if it was a benefit for someone in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Frances Seay; his brother, Brett Seay and niece, Jessica Seay Cox.
He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Leigh Anne Seay; children, Mary (Patrick) Mill of Trussville, William Kennard and Michael Seay, both of Chatom; granddaughters, Dani and Kinsley; brother, Samuel B (Sheryl) Seay of Homer, LA, sister, Sara (Larry) Friedrich of Mt. Pleasant, SC; six nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be conducted at a later date at the Quinnelly Family Cemetery where his remains will be interred. A musical celebration of his life will be conducted in the near future for his friends and loved ones to remember him in the way he was most often seen. A time and location have not yet been determined.
