Sherwood Dees

Sherwood Cleveland Dees, 90, passed away June 15, 2023, in Chatom, AL. He was born July 12, 1932, to parents Frank and Monnie Bea Weldy Dees. He served as Washington County Commissioner and also served as Fire Chief of the Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department and served in the United States Air Force. He loved the outdoors and visiting in the community. He was a member of Community Christian Church in Deer Park.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings George Dees, Harold Dees, Winfred Dees, Marion Dees, and Lida Mae Taylor, son Larin Dees Sr., and the mother of his children Pearline Ruth Dees, and wife Shirley Dees.

Survived by his children Gaylon (Mary) Dees of Deer Park, AL, Allen (Cathy) Dees of Chatom, AL, Monnie B. Nelson of Fairhope, AL, seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Pallbearers are Andrew Williamson, Alex Williamson, Rocky Odom, Doug Cochran Jr., Jamie Dees, and Warren Dees.

Graveside Services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 19, 2023, at Deer Park Cemetery with Bro. Barton Turner and Bro. Tom Dees officiating with Lathan Funeral Home directing. Online condolences may be shared at www.lathanfuneralhome.com
