Shirley Chastain

Shirley Ruth Griffin Chastain, 87, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at her residence. She was born April 18, 1932 to W.J. Griffin and Gladys Few Griffin in Walker Springs. A member of the First United Methodist Church of Jackson, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing and watching baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jackie Chastain, Sr.; son, William Chastain and sisters, Jewel Paul and Judy Foster.

She is survived by her children, Jackie B. (Linda) Chastain, Jr., Greg (Becky) Chastain, Amy (John) Brown; grandchildren, Kasey (Jeff) Fleming, Emily (Byron) Crews, Mary Caylor (Al) Mosley, Webb (Adrienne) Chastain, Tyler (Brianna) Chastain, John Colby Chastain, Jake Brown, Alyssa Clark Chastain; great-grandchildren, Paul Jeffrey Fleming, III, Jack Fleming, Myles Mosley, Will Chastain, Hayden Chastain, Baby Mosley; siblings, Billy (Paula) Griffin, James (Linda) Griffin, Gerry Griffin and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Jackson with the Revs. Danielle May and Tyler Chastain officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Bethel Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Fleming, Byron Crews, Al Mosley, Tyler Chastain, John Colby Chastain, Webb Chastain, Jake Brown, Paul Jeffrey Fleming, III and Jack Fleming.
