Sidney Hoven

September 29, 1929 — December 11, 2024

Sidney S. Hoven, age 95, of Salitpa passed away December 11, 2024 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Sidney was born September 29, 1929 to Grady H. and Noma B. Hoven. Sidney proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He found his passion as a tugboat captain and later went on to work for the United States Postal Service.

Sidney is predeceased by his parents; wife, Gloria Lynn Carter Hoven; sister, Martha Nan Hoven; and great grandson, Landon Chase Tillman.

He is survived by his sons, Stewart K. Hoven (Karen), Harold S. Hoven (Susan) and Danny M. Hoven, Sr. (Martha); daughter, Martha Lynn Dunagan; 9 grandchildren; best friend, George F. "Sonny" Hudson; lifelong friend, Ralph Strong; as well as a host of great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Services will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024 at River Hill Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral begins at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Scott Myers, officiating. Interment will follow in River Hill Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to River Hill Baptist Church or St. Jude's Children Hospital.

Pallbearers will be Chad Dunagan, Kobe Hoven, Jimbo Lightsey, Kyle Robertson, Dan Hoven Jr., Buck Jones, Jeremy Tillman, and Josh Meadows.
