Simon Howard

Simon Howard, 82, of Tibbie passed away February 26, 2019 at his home. He was born September 23, 1936 to Boyd and Lavonia Howard in Howardtown. A retired chemical operator with Ciba Corp, he was a member of Tibbie Baptist Church and Lizzella Masonic Lodge #663 in Lizzella, GA. He lived in Tibbie for over 50 years where he enjoyed gardening, raising sheep and bee keeping. He loved blue grass music and also served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ruthona Ussery Howard; grandsons, Justin Godwin, Matthew Godwin, Daniel Godwin and siblings, Dan Howard, Norma Day, Theodore Howard, Shirley Clarke, Bernie Howard, Leo Howard, Preston Howard and Osceola Henderson.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Musgrove Howard; children, Deanna (Doc) Godwin, Teresa (Robert) Reynolds; step-children, Stan (Gaye) Clayton, Alan (Jeanie) Clayton, Susan (Randy) Williams, Rose Parnell, Ralph (Sandy) Clayton; siblings, Travis (Martha) Howard, Dyscie Odom, Voncel Jeffers, Ida Geranis; fourteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Tibbie Baptist Church in Tibbie with the Revs. Barton Turner, Woody Baughn. Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers will be; Ben Odom, Bo Howard, BoBo Howard, Craig Howard, Nicky Howard, Steve Howard, Stewart Howard and Will Howard

Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews.
