Stella Jones

Stella Mae Jones, 85, of Jackson, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Camden Nursing Facility. She was born December 13, 1933 to John H. and Agnes Bumpers Jones in Jackson. A faithful member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church in Jackson, she loved doing things for others and frequently prepared meals for families experiencing grief or illness. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse Ray Jones and siblings, Zelna Jones McLean, Milton Jones, L.C. Jones, Foncie Jones, Mixon Jones, Paul Jones and Johnnie B. Hall.

She is survived by her sons, Johnny Ray (Shirley) Jones, Kent (Kellie) Jones and grandchildren, Sarah Farmer, Jesse Kate Jones and Julian Karsen Jones.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2019 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with the Rev. Danny Chancey officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson with Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers will be Jim Slayton, Chris Best, RJ Miller, Kenny Finch, Dale Newton and Freddie Pringle.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
