Sue Looper

Sue J. Loper, 88, of Longmont, Colorado, passed away January 13, 2017 at her home. She was born March 9, 1928 in Honaker, Virginia to Edward and Rachel (Keene) Johnston. She graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Nursing in 1951. On March 3, 1956, she married Hubert Horry "Harry" Loper, Jr. in Charlottesville, Virginia.


After the family moved to Mobile, she worked as a registered nurse in a pediatrician's office, as an instructor at Providence School of Nursing and in community health at the Mobile County Health Department. During this time, she also worked as a private home health nurse.


She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and Calvary Assembly of God in Mobile. She moved to Longmont, Colorado in 2007.


She was preceded in death by her husband; parents and siblings, Billy Johnston and Anna J. Johnston.


She is survived by children, Stephen (Linda) Loper of Indianapolis, IN, Lynn (George) Gesegnet of Boulder, CO, Janet Loper of Niwot, CO; grandchild, Shae Loper and Kenny and Marie Hagin of Deerfield, OH.


Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on January 21, 2017 at Yarbo Assembly of God Church in Chatom with the Rev. Mike Loper officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
