Sybil Jones

Sybil Marie Jones, 93, of Jackson, passed away peacefully October 19, 2022 at her home. She was born May 12, 1929 to Moses and Ida Marie Ivey. Sybil married George (Bebe) Jones on august 29, 1948, their first date was, surprisingly, hunting alligators! She adored her husband and was blessed with a wonderful loving family, she was the epitome of a perfect wife and mother. She taught her grandchildren how to cook some of the family favorites like chicken and dumplings, sour cream pound cake, and chocolate pie. She always had a cup of coffee-well diluted with water. She took great care of her family and passed on her values of self-respect and honesty in all. She was a perfect southern lady who was always dressed to the nines.

Preceded in death by her parents, grandson Nathan Jay McCary, sisters Gladys Strickland, Geraldine Ivey, and brothers J.D. Ivey and James Ivey.

Survived by her husband of 73 years George Jones, children Jennifer (Ron) McCary, Michael Henry Jones, and Terry Wayne Jones, grandchildren Lori (Eric) Huggins, Cynthia (Rob) Pollard, Angela Kay (Michael) Jones, Michael Paul Jones, Brandon Lee (Heather Mask) Jones, great grandchildren Caleb Huggins, Colin Huggins, Nathan Abbott, Logan Abbott, John Blacknall, Preston Blacknall, Braxton Jones, Addison Jones, Raygan Jones, Bryant Ray, Ashley (Wade) Adams, great greatgrandchild Brooks Adams

Pallbearers will be Rob Pollard, Nathan Abbott, Logan Abbott, Bryant Adams, Michael Jones, and Brandon Jones.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, October 24, 2022, at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with a visitation one hour prior to services. Bro. Warren Huggins officiating.
