Therman Ray Beech, 86, of Chatom, Passed away June 8, 2019 at the Washington County Hospital. He was born August 12, 1932 in Hobson to Buford and Laura Beech. His career in the automotive industry was spent at Chatom Motor Company where he retired as sales manager. Mr. Beech enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing cards with his special group of friends. He was a dedicated Mason and a member of Chatom First Baptist Church and served on the City Council in Chatom. Therman achieved rank of Corporal while honorably serving his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his son, Eric (Rhonda) Beech of Chatom, Grandchildren; Erica Kate Beech and Raychel Beech of Mobile, Brittany (Ruben) Arriagada of Chile, and Joshua (Jane) Beech of Gulf Shores.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 59 years Mary Frances Beech, five brothers; Aubry, Vern, Bill, Ira ‘Buddy’, Fletcher, and his two sisters Melva Bloomer, Lillian Spencer.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Chatom, with the Revs. Robert Kirkland and Jerry Roberson officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Chatom City Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Mark Beech, Lyle Beech, Barry Beech, Chris Beech, Lamar Beech, Roger Beech, Ricky Beech, Greg Taylor, James Taylor and Gordon Sloat. Honorary pallbearers are Ed Turner, Ted Hayes, Robert Morris McIlwain, and the ladies who Mr. Thurman enjoyed playing cards with and kept company with after Mrs. Frances passed.
