Thomas Gary Houston, 69, of Coffeeville, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 at his residence surrounded by family. He was born in Grove Hill on February 25, 1952 to Robert Lee "Bob" Houston and Cornelia Guy "Neal" Houston. He has been employed as a quality control welding inspector with West Alabama Mechanical. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, camp and "piddle" in his workshop. He was also a passionate fan of The University of Alabama football program, but more than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Lilly Houston.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Northcutt Houston; children, Candace Houston (Jason) James, Thomas Jeremy (Mary Catherine) Houston; grandchildren, Noa James, Jeremiah Houston, Briley Houston, Bayleigh Houston, Josie Houston; sister, Cynthia (James) Graham and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Ulcanush Baptist Church in Coffeeville with the Revs. Glenn Dunnam and Lynn Northcutt officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be John Bonner, Jamey Dunegan, Seab Hicks, Randy Hannah, Joe James, Jim McAlpine, Wayne Rascoe, Mikel Shepherd and Nevin Tidmore.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Blake, Rickie Clanton, Jerry Courington, Milton Courington, Ross Courington, Steve Hartman, Terry Hooper, Terry Rohm and WAM co-workers.
