Vergie Hodge

Vergie Mae Milstead Hodge, 86, of Mobile and formerly of Coffeeville, passed away February 17, 2019 at her residence surrounded by family. She was born May 16, 1932 to John C. Milstead, Sr. and Kitty C. Milstead in Coffeeville. A member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Coffeeville, she had been a lifelong homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Vester Hodge; daughter, Linda Cochran; grandson, Richard Matthew Zirlott and siblings, John C. Milstead, Jr., Estelle Hodge and Rada Jones.

She is survived by her children, James Michael (Donna) Hodge, William O. "Billy" Hodge, Joyce (Lee) Ammons, Judy (Chris) Zirlott, Kathy (Charles) Sessions, Debbie Huckabee, Sharon (Dale) Payne, Donna Schmitz; 24 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren and 30 great, great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Union Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Cleon Kyles and Butch Starks officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers will be Ron Atchison, Shane Johnston, Chad Harrell, Derick Huckabee, Donald Moore, Jr. and Shawn Huckabee.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Zirlott, Justin Fant, Charlie Sessions, Dale Payne and Blaine Lee.
