Vermel Reynolds

Vermel Laton Reynolds, 86, of Chatom, passed away January 25, 2017 at her residence. She was born August 22, 1930 to Joseph J. Laton and Ada Mae Scarbrough Laton. She was a member of Laton Hill Baptist Church and had been employed as a rural mail carrier.


She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell B. Reynolds; siblings, James Cecil "J.C." Laton, M.D. Laton, Paul Laton, and grandson, Ryan Edmundson.


She is survived by her children, K.D. (Linda) Reynolds, Marcia (John) Edmundson; grandchildren, Liberty (Chris) Reynolds Crawford, Amber (Donnie) Reynolds Mathis, Laura Brook Edmundson, Drew Reynolds; great-grandchildren, Cole Crawford, Calla Crawford, Trace Mathis, Hallie Mathis; sister, Ruth Laton Williams; sister-in-law, Marilyn Laton Parnell and many other extended family and friends.


Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Laton Hill Baptist Church in Chatom with Dr. Donnie Mathis and Rev. Leland James, Jr. officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.


Active pallbearers will be Harold Williams, Kenneth Godwin, Dennis Williams, Elvis Hennis, Mark Gordon and Caleb Williams.
