Vivian Gray Milstead, 83, of Jackson, passed away September 28, 2017 at Jackson Medical Center. He was born April 26, 1934 to Lewis Vivian Gray Milstead and Maude Leonard Milstead. A member of the First United Methodist Church of Jackson, he was a longtime member of the Wesley Bible Class. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Cold War era in Germany. He had been employed for 42 years at Ciba Giegy in the I&E department and worked as a contractor for several industries after retirement. He was a founding member of the Credit Union at Giegy and served on its supervisory committee. He also loved hunting and fishing and earned numerous awards for both.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of more than 50 years, Betty Daugherty Milstead; infant daughter, Angela Milstead and sisters, Mittie (John) Gill and Mabel (Leroy) Whitehead.
He is survived by his son, Ashley Gray Milstead.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Jackson with the Rev. Mark Dunn officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Tom Walker, Wendell Woodson, Ryan Pezent, Chuck Whitehead, David Gill and Darron Gill.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Jackson Volunteer Fire Departments and the coffee drinkers at the drug store.
