Voncile Williams Allen, 89, of Chatom, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at the Washington County Nursing Home. She was born in Laton Hill on October 6, 1931 to John Franklin Laton, Sr. and Susie Etta Scarbrough Laton. She had been employed in several capacities in the Washington County Courthouse, including voter registration and the sheriff’s office. She was a member of Laton Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed raising flowers, puzzles, reading and sewing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Vernon Williams; grandchildren, Danny Spencer, Todd Spencer, Wendi Spencer, Stephanie Spencer, Beth Spencer, John Michael Crocker and siblings, Buster Laton, Hattie Hill, Inez Revette, Evelyn Williams, Tiny Holifield and John Laton, Jr.
She is survived by her children, Gayle Spencer, Danny (Sheila) Williams, Brenda (Danny) Goldman, Rusty (Diane) Williams; grandchildren, David Spencer, Sara (Robbie) Rather, Renee (Tony) Mareska, Lynn (Chris) Deese, Susie (John) Davis, Becky (Kenny) Payne, Joshua (Janie) Goldman, Jarrod Goldman, Colby Williams, Kellie Williams, Alicia (Barkley) Williams, Henry (Ariel) Crocker, Jennifer (Phamous) Hobbs, Randy Lee Crocker; thirty-one great- grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; former husband, David Allen and numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Laton Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Ricky Revette and Leland James officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be conducted on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom. From 5-7 p.m.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Goldman, Brent Laton, Alton McIlwain, Raymond Revette, Gavin Scarbrough, David Williams, Dennis Williams, Kelly Williams and Tharon Williams.
