Voncille Hayes Savage, 73, of Hobson, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at SAAD Hospice in Mobile surrounded by family. She was born in Bigbee on July 24, 1947 to Robert Clarence Hayes and Francis Inez Mosley Hayes. She had previously been self-employed as a caregiver for the elderly and was a member of Chatom Church of God where she was active with the Senior Saints and the Care Team. She loved cooking for her family, including the many “adopted” children she cared for and helped raise through the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmy Bruce Savage and sister, Sally Stoker.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn (Don) Welborn; grandson, Braxton Welborn; siblings, Ruby (Howard) Milne, Edward (Rhonda) Hayes, Henry Hayes, Johnny (Ellen) Hayes, Vickie (Thomas) Abate, Darrell (Tammy) Hayes and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Chatom Church of God with the Revs. Jon Brown, Naomi Brown and Jimmy Butts officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in the Bigbee community with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Travis Abate, Casey Hayes, Jody Hayes, Kyle Hayes, Josh Howard, Ricky Savage, Thomas Savage and Ron Welborn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Toby Davidson, Brian Hayes, Josh Hayes, Matthew Hayes, Jeff Lawson and Nathan Lawson.
