Ward Alexander Jackson, 82, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2020 at Jackson Medical Center. He was born on May 17, 1938 to John H. Jackson and Clara Hicks Jackson. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a manager with Air Gas for more than 45 years. He was a fan of Alabama football, western movies and reading.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley Jean Jackson; daughter, Lisa Carol Ward and brother, John W. Jackson.

He is survived by his children, Ward Allen “B.J.” Jackson, Deborah Jean (Kevin) Hicks, Sherry Renee (David) Overton; ten grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Fendley; son-in-law, Randy Ward and numerous other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Sunny South Baptist Church in Sunny South with the Rev. Leon Parnell officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill.

Pallbearers will be Scotty Ballard, Donnie Fendley, Nathan Frank, Jamie Jackson, Douglas Parnell and Randy Ward.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Holder and Don Parnell.
