Wesley Royce Bumpers, 85, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, FL. He was born in Jackson on June 14, 1936 to Wesley Candler Bumpers and Erma Hicks Bumpers. He joined the U.S. Air Force after high school graduation. Since there was no war at the time, he earned a degree in accounting from Goldey-Beacom Business College in Delaware and later became a Certified Public Accountant. He joined the accounting firm of Lukens, Cohan & Sayers which later became Bumpers and Company, a thriving company to this day.
He was very active in the Shriner's Organization and was on the board of the Mary Campbell Center, a cause that he passionately supported for many years. A proud member of the Masonic Lodge, he was awarded the highest honor of Sublime Prince of the Royal, thirty-three degree.
He is survived by his children, Kirsten Gibson, Wesley Zack Bumpers; grandchildren, Ian C. Gibson, George W. Gibson, Hadley Bumpers, Morgan Bumpers; great-grandchildren, Paizley R. Gibson, Wesley A. Gibson; siblings, Bill Bumpers, Tommy Bumpers, Ralph Bumpers, Vann Bumpers, Elaine Lavender, June Gissendanner, Susan Davis, April Barton and numerous other relative and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at the Winn Community Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Bill Bumpers, Ralph Bumpers, Tommy Bumpers, Vann Bumpers, Ian Gibson and George Gibson.
