William Charles "Bill" Clifton, 80, passed away February 7, 2025. Bill was born February 10, 1944 to William Thomas and Rosa Esther Clifton. Being a loyal patriot to his country, Bill enlisted in the United States Navy where he scored so well on his IQ and other testing that his superior chose to sponsor him for the United States Naval Academy. Much to his dismay, an old arm injury disqualified him from service. Bill retired as an electrical engineer.
Bill was a sweet, loving, and giving man; "generous to a fault" was a phrase commonly used to describe him. He had a knack for picking up on a comment made in passing and before you knew it Bill was working on a way to make that comment a reality. Bill never stayed still for long and was always working on some type of project.
Bill was a member of Peniel Baptist Church and the Santa Fe Lodge #226. On June 8, 2008, Bill became a Shriner. One of his proudest accomplishments was serving as Potentate of the Abba Shrine in 2021. Through his work with the Shriners, Bill has touched the lives of countless children and their families.
Bill is survived by his wife, Elizabeth May Clifton; daughter, Susan Bouvier; step-son, Tim Wilson (Candice); step-daughter, Elizabeth D. Wilson; sister, Delma Morgan; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
