William Lee Dunn, known to friends as "Lee," passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at the age of 67 years.
Lee was born in Gove Hill, AL on November 6, 1953 to Benjamin Watson and Ethel Louise Thomas Dunn. Lee was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Louise Dunn, brother-in-law Victor Deane "Tim" Adams and friend Bert McDaniel. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1972 and Patrick Henry Jr College in 1975.
Lee will be lovingly missed by his sisters, Barbara Whittington, Susan Adams and Lynne (Tyrone) Cranford and brother, Sammy Dunn. Lee will also be fondly remembered by his nephews, Benjamin (Lauren) Cranford, Stephen (Crystal) Cranford, Watson (Keri) Adams, and Keith Dunn as well as his great nieces and nephews, Addison Cranford, Blake Cranford, Camden Lee Cranford, Benjamin Cranford, Savannah Cranford, Maddox Adams, MacKennon Adams, Burkely Adams and Bentley Dunn. He cherished his extended family in Demopolis, Emily and Greg Low and their children Anna and Jason, and Mary Claire McDaniel Whitten and her son Will.
Lee began his career with Colonial Bread in 1975, eventually moving to Demopolis and joining Frito Lay in 1980. Retiring from Frito Lay after 25 years in 2005, Lee moved back to Grove Hill to work alongside his family at Dunn's Shell. You could always find him behind the courter every morning with a warm smile and jolly "Good Morning." Lee was an avid NASCAR fan, attending numerous races throughout the South as well as being a multi-seat season ticket holder for over 20 years to Talladega, where he enjoyed bringing family and friends along to enjoy the experience of NASCAR. He was a member of the Demopolis Jaycees for more than 15 years, Alabama Wild Turkey Foundation and Clarke Country Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class of 2011.
Honorary pallbearers include The Past and Present Employees of Dunn's Shell, The Staff of Ace Hardware of Grove Hill, Joe Singley, Brandon Garrick, Bug Tarleton, Billy Freeman, Ray Jordan and the numerous friends, customers and vendors of Dunn's Shell

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, July 24, 2021, visitation at 1:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 2 p.m. at Lathan Funeral Home, 20334 US-43, Grove Hill, AL 36451, with the Rev. Russell Wright officiating. Interment will follow at a later date with family only. Memorial donations in memory of Lee can be made to Clarke County Animal Shelter or a charity of your choice.
