William Roy “Bill” Heckathorn, 50, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at his residence. He was born March 19, 1969 in Everett, Washington. His life’s work and passion was learning about Jesus Christ and teaching others about Christ’s love. Rather than seeking earthly possessions, Bill instead, chose to devote his life to helping others. Through years of service to his fellow man, he learned to be a mechanic and craftsman who could tackle many tough tasks proficiently. The thing that brought him the most joy was serving Jesus Christ through service to others.
He was preceded in death by his father, George C. Heckathorn and sister, Kimi Cooper.
He is survived by his daughters, Patricia “Lupita” (William) Hisaw, Hilda Maria (David) Carroll; granddaughter, Avery Marie Hisaw; mother, Nila Joan Alam; siblings, Don (Laura) Alam, Rick (Dawn) Alam, Carol Hess, Patty (Craig) Rodgers; numerous nieces and nephews; aunt, Gene Mathews, cousins, Travis Mathews, Tina Goodman and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Parish in Grove Hill with Rev. Stephen Hellman officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2019 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson and will resume an hour prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Green, Rick Alam, Ariel Anderson, Cameron Conerly, Jamar Mathews and Craig Rodgers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Mathews, Jordon Lovette, Josh Petty, Skye Anderson and Donny Petty.
